This unique project features 600 homes in a wonderful park-like setting, and the area is completely car-free. Other remarkable aspects include the use of environmentally-friendly materials such as the western red cedar on the façade, and similarly environmentally-friendly applications like the cogeneration plant. The design of the building that houses the apartment is such that each home has a living room facing the south, with as many openings in the façade as possible, in line with the principles of passive solar design.
LAYOUT
Entrance on the third floor. This floor has two bedrooms and the bathroom, featuring a shower and a sink. From the hall, the stairs lead down to the corridor on the second floor, from which every room can be accessed. To the left is the spacious kitchen - so large, in fact, that there’s enough space for creating an extra room (see the alternative floor plan). To the right is the bright living room, with an adjoining south-facing balcony. Elsewhere on this floor is a separate toilet, a space for a washing machine/dryer, and a big storage cupboard. There is massive eucalyptus wood flooring throughout the apartment. A videophone is located in the hall.
There is another storage area on the ground floor.
The apartment has been fitted with insulation glass and is heated by district heating, which means low energy costs. The apartment has Energy Label A.
LOCATION
The apartment is on the site of the former municipal waterworks (‘GWL-terrein’) in the Westerpark city district. The site is also home to the very popular Café Restaurant Amsterdam. Meanwhile, on the other side of Haarlemmerweg, is the fabulous Westerpark, with its vast range of cultural amenities and events. The Jordaan district is within easy walking distance too. There are all kinds of excellent shops and many outdoor terraces nearby. Public transport links are ideal, with both Central Station and Amsterdam Sloterdijk being very close at hand. If you’re travelling by car, Haarlemmerweg takes you to the A10 Ring Road in next to no time.
LEASEHOLD
The complex was built in 1996, and the leasehold has been definitively purchased!
